Ofield Dukes (left), one of the nation's most prominent African-American PR pioneers, spearheaded the campaign to create a national holiday to honor the birthday of Martin Luther King. Dukes served as a board member of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Change and the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, and worked on behalf of multiple civil rights organizations, in addition to teaching for many years and running a national PR agency.
