Celebrating John Johnson, one of the "Hidden Heroes of PR History"


"According to leading researchers, in proportion to population and income, Negroes buy more quality products than any other comparable United States group..." So said this instructional film, produced by John Johnson, one of the wealthiest Black businessmen of the time and publisher of Jet and Ebony. The film was aimed at encouraging American corporations to direct their marketing to the burgeoning Black middle class, the fastest-growing segment of consumers in the 50s.
