Celebrating James Selvage and Denny Griswold

1938--James Selvage served as director of PR for the National Manufacturers Assn (NAM) through the 30s, creating such ground-breaking campaigns as the "American Family Robinson" radio series (15 min. daily segments designed to promote free enterprise), and "The American Way" billboard series (keeping the "American Dream" alive during the Depression). In 1938, he started his own agency, and after that agency grew to include Lee and Howard, merged in 1972 with Farley Manning & Associates, creating Manning, Selvega and Lee, the forerunner to today's giant MSL Group

1969--Denny Griswold, editor and publisher of the first "PR Newsletter for Executives," celebrates 25 years of continuous publication. "Twenty-five years ago you couldn't even imagine that a corporate officer would worry about employees getting involved in the community or concerned about minority groups."
