The History of Teletype Machines

On July 21, 1969, teletype machines all over the world (such as the one in this video) spent the day reporting bulletins about both the lunar landing and the fallout from Sen.Ted Kennedy's Chappaquiddick incident, which happened three days earlier. This AP news scroll, covering developments of both stories that day, resides at the Museum where it is available for closer examination. Teletype machines from the AP, UPI and Reuters, were invented in 1924, and phased out in the 1970s. Hear the teletype at work here.
